Repair and Reinforce Wood Structures

Crafted from strong and durable steel, our 1" x 4" wood mending plates (also known as wood connector plates) are the ideal solution for quick and easy repairs, renovations, and building projects. Hot-dipped galvanized for superior corrosion resistance, these plates are fully compatible with pressure-treated lumber, ensuring long-lasting connections in any environment.

Ideal for non-structural applications, these steel mending plates make building wood frames fast and easy! Use them for projects like sheds, fences, gates, and other general fix-up work. They're compatible with a variety of sizes of lumber (1x4, 2x4, 2x6, 4x4, etc.), and you don't even need to use nails to install them! Simply align the wood with the arrows at the joint and hammer the plate to embed the prongs.

FAQ

What is the difference between a tie plate and a mending plate?

Tie plates are designed to strengthen wood joints subjected to tension, while mending plates reinforce damaged or weakened joints subjected to compression.

Do you put mending plates on both sides?

While it's not always necessary, using mending plates on both sides of a joint can provide additional strength and stability, especially for larger or heavier projects.

Can these be used with ACQ and CA pressure treated lumber?

Yes, Sandbaggy mending plates are specifically designed to be compatible with ACQ and CA pressure-treated lumber. That's because they are hot-dipped galvanized, a process that provides a thick, protective zinc coating that effectively resists corrosion caused by the chemicals in treated wood.
