FAQ

How long do clay roof tiles last?

A professionally installed clay tile roof can last for 100 years or more. The tiles themselves are incredibly durable; the lifespan of the roof system is often determined by the underlayment and flashing components.

Can you paint clay roof tiles?

While it is physically possible, we strongly advise against painting our terracotta tiles. The kiln-fired color is permanent and will not fade. Painting introduces a maintenance requirement and can trap moisture, potentially damaging the tiles over time.

What is a Spanish Barrel Tie?

A Spanish Barrel Tile is a two-piece roofing system made of a wide 'pan' tile and a narrower 'cover' tile that overlaps it. This creates the classic curved or 'barrel' roof profile common in Spanish and Mediterranean-style architecture.

What other names does this product go by?

These tiles are often referred to as Spanish tiles, barrel tiles, two-piece mission tiles, "pan and cover" tiles, or simply terracotta roofing.
