Control Soil Erosion On Steep Slopes!

Sandbaggy coconut erosion control blanket provides erosion protection for 2-3 years! Our coconut fiber blankets are rated for 1:1 slopes (the steepest slopes), meanwhile our jute netting and coir blankets are rated for up to 2:1 slopes. Coconut fibers are 100% biodegradable. They’re able to stop run-off and keep soil in place where vegetation has not been established. Available in 2 options

These erosion control rolls are 7.5 ft wide x 120 feet long and able to cover up to 900 square feet each (also available in smaller 3.75 ft wide size), they come in either a plastic or burlap netting (see details below).

Burlap netting holds the coconut fibers in place, use burlap when it's required to use a fully biodegradable option.

Installation Instructions

  1. Prepare the soil by raking the area free of stones and clods. A Bobcat or tractor may be needed for large jobs. Do not compact. If using fertilizer, add it to the soil before grading.
  2. Seeds and Mulch (if required) should be distributed evenly over the prepared soil.
  3. Coconut Blanket should be applied by unrolling down the slope or in the direction of water-flow.
  4. Dig a trench across the top of the slope. This trench should be 6 inches by 6 inches.
  5. Install the Coconut Blanket in the trench. Place at least 12 inches of the roll above the trench (further up the slope). Space each staple about a foot apart inside the trench
  6. Once staples are installed inside the trench, backfill and compact dirt inside the trench.
  7. Bring the extra 12 inches of the coconut roll (on step 5) and cover the trench area. Use additional staples (1 foot apart) secure.
  8. Place staples 18" to 24" apart throughout to secure matting to ground. All staples must be driven flush with soil surface.
  9. Always overlap the edges 2" to 6". At the end of each roll, fold back 4" to 9” of the matting. Overlap this 4" to 8" over the start of the next roll. Securely staple the two layers to the ground.

Looks nice and easy to cut and install

I installed this erosion control blanket on a very steep hillside. The product was easy to work with, I cut it with a box cutter and it lays out easy, just like a blanket. I have received several compliments on how the product looks while we start planting some anti erosion plants to stabilize the hillside. One hint: for large areas, keep the blanket oriented in the same direction for better visual appeal.

Erosion Control Fabric

We purchased both the coconut erosion control fabric with the netting for our back steep slope, and without the netting for our front yard slope. We are very impressed with the thickness and coverage of the coconut fiber. Other brands we looked at were sparse in comparison. We have peace of mind knowing that our newly terraced slope will not erode when the rains start, and that our mulch will not be washed away..
