How much does a sandbag cost?

Our most popular sandbag size, 14" x 26", costs $39 for 100 sandbags and is available in quantities ranging from 5 to 100,000 sandbags.

How much does a pallet of sandbags weigh?

One pallet can hold 15,000 14" x 26" poly sandbags, which weighs 1,200 pounds.

Do sandbags really stop water?

Yes. Polypropylene sandbags are effective at stopping water because the sand contained within the bag does not allow water to flow through.

What kind of bags do you use for sandbags?

14" x 26" polypropylene sandbags, which are designed specifically to control flooding and are constructed of tough, woven polypropylene. They can last at least 3-6 months under direct sunlight.

How do I sandbag my house?

  1. Wear gloves
  2. Fill sandbags 1/2 to 2/3 full and tie the bag at the top with the included ties
  3. Use a short handled, #2 rounded point shovel with straight shaft and D grip, bagger scoop or funnel to fill sandbags.
  4. Remove any debris from the areas where the sandbags will be placed. After placing the sandbag, walk on the sandbags to create a tight seal between each bag.

How long do sandbags last?

  • Polypropylene sandbags (14" x 26", 18" x 30") last 3-6 months under direct sunlight in sunny states like Florida and California because they have 1600 hours of built-in UV protection.
  • This makes them perfect for erosion control projects where the bags will be sitting outside for months.
  • Burlap sandbags (14" x 26") last one month under direct sunlight before biodegrading and becoming a part of the natural environment again.

How do sandbags work?

  • Polypropylene sand bags are effective at stopping water because of the sand contained within the bag.
  • The plastic in the bag itself, specifically polypropylene, is water permeable.
  • This makes the polypropylene sand bags more versatile because putting gravel (rather than sand) in the bags allows them to stop sediment while allowing water to flow through.

Can sandbags be reused?

  • If the sandbags stay dry and intact (no tears in the bag), they can be reused.
  • But if they have been used to stop flooding, sandbags should not be reused, as flood water is generally contaminated with chemicals and other hazardous liquids.
