How to Install
Installing your Cast in Place Tile correctly ensures its long life and ADA compliance. This is a guide for those familiar with concrete work:
- Plan & Prep: Before pouring, confirm your layout and placement meet project plans and applicable ADA requirements. Ensure the subgrade, forms, and work area are ready. Your tiles arrive with a protective top film – keep this film on.
- Pour & Check Workability: Pour concrete to the specified grade. It needs a 4-7-inch slump. Wait for it to reach a semi-solid state – firm enough to support the tile, workable enough to embed it.
- Set Your Tile: Position the tile in the required location (protective film still on). Press the tile into the wet concrete, then use a rubber mallet to tap evenly until the tile base is flush and level with the surrounding surface. Do not step on the tile to embed it..
- Finish Around Tile: Finish adjacent concrete per project specifications while the concrete remains workable. If required, tool an expansion joint around the tile perimeter.
- Cure & Clean Up: Allow concrete to fully cure per the concrete manufacturer’s instructions before opening to traffic. After curing and once construction is complete, carefully remove any protective film (use a utility knife along edges if needed).
