Prevent Erosion & Manage Stormwater Runoff
Protect your landscapes and waterways with Sandbaggy’s Straw Wattles for Erosion Control (also known as Straw Tubes), available in two eco-friendly netting options: photodegradable plastic or biodegradable burlap. Designed to last up to 2 years, these 9-inch diameter, 25-foot-long fiber rolls are filled with compressed, weed-free straw to stabilize slopes, control water runoff, and prevent erosion. They help capture sediment and distribute water evenly, blending seamlessly into the environment while meeting Caltrans approval standards.
Whether you’re managing post-fire recovery, construction sites, or long-term vegetation projects, Sandbaggy’s straw erosion control logs provide a dependable and eco-conscious solution to erosion control. Shrink-wrapped and pallet-ready for efficient transport and storage, our straw wattles also come with full pallet covers, providing protection from rain and other outdoor conditions.

FAQ
Is this straw wattle biodegradable?
The burlap netting option is 100% biodegradable, while the plastic netting is photodegradable. The burlap netting naturally decomposes, requiring no cleanup and aligning with Caltrans standards. Burlap-wrapped wattles are now required on many projects due to their eco-friendly benefits.
How Long Do These Straw Wattles Last?
Sandbaggy straw wattles last up to 2 years. The burlap netting will fully biodegrade, while the plastic netting photodegrades.
Silt Fence vs. Straw Wattles
Silt fences are used to filter and trap sediment in low-flow areas, while straw wattles stabilize slopes, prevent erosion, manage stormwater runoff, and capture sediment. Wattles also help slow water flow and reduce the formation of gullies, offering broader erosion control benefits than silt fences.
What Are Straw Wattles Used For?
Straw wattles are used for erosion control, stormwater runoff management, slope stabilization, and sediment capture, especially on slopes, construction sites, and burned areas with minimal ground cover.
What Are Straw Wattles?
Straw wattles are cylindrical rolls of compressed, straw wrapped in either plastic or biodegradable burlap netting. They stabilize slopes, control runoff, capture sediment, and prevent erosion.
