Features
- Textured End For Additional Holding Strength! Unlike other drop-in threaded concrete anchors on the market, Sandbaggy’s drop-in anchor features a smooth wall with a textured end for additional grip in concrete.
- Internal National Coarse Threads: 1/2" drop in anchor facilitates easy selection and installation of threaded rods or bolts.
- Flush Mounting: After installation, nothing protrudes above the concrete surface, maintaining a clean and professional finish.
- Consistent Holding Values: Drop in concrete anchors are ideal for applications requiring uniform expansion for reliable fastening in concrete.
- Solid Concrete Use: Suitable exclusively for installation in solid concrete, providing robust anchorage in stable environments.
- Zinc Plated, Ideal For Dry, Indoor Applications: Ideal for indoor environments where dry conditions prevail, ensuring reliable performance over time. The zinc plated exterior provides a layer of protection from rust and corrosion.
Installation Instructions
- Prepare the Hole: Drill a 5/8" hole into the concrete using a carbide-tipped bit meeting ANSI Standards B212.15. Ensure the depth of the hole is equal to or greater than the minimum embedment depth of 2".
- Clean the Hole: Remove debris from the hole using a wire brush, vacuum, compressed air, or a blow-out bulb to ensure a clean installation.
- Insert the Anchor: Place the drop-in anchor into the hole with the open threaded end facing upwards.
- Set the Anchor: Use the appropriate setting tool for 1/2" Drop In Concrete Anchors Zinc Plated. Insert the tool into the anchor and strike the end firmly with a hammer until the anchor is fully set.
- Final Adjustment: Once set, the anchor is ready for use. Insert a 1/2" diameter threaded rod or bolt into the anchor and tighten with a maximum torque of 20 ft. lbs.
Please Note
- Minimum edge distance: 3-1/8"
- Minimum fixture hole diameter (in place): 11/16"
- Minimum fixture hole diameter (hole spotted): 1/2"
- Maximum torque: 20 ft./lbs.
- Bolt length: Fixture Thickness + Embedment Depth
FAQ
What size drill bit for 1/2" drop in anchor?
To install a 1/2-inch drop-in anchor, you typically need to use a 5/8-inch drill bit. This allows for a proper fit that ensures the anchor can be securely placed into the drilled hole.
What is a drop in anchor?
A drop-in anchor is a fastener used in concrete, brick, or stone materials to create a secure connection point for bolts or threaded rods. It consists of an internally threaded sleeve and a cone-shaped expander plug that, when installed correctly, provides a firm hold.
How does a drop in anchor work?
Drop-in anchors are installed by drilling a hole to the necessary depth in concrete/masonry. The anchor is inserted with its lip flush against the surface, and a setting tool drives the internal plug into the sleeve. This creates a dependable anchor point for attaching machinery, fixtures, etc.
