More Counterfeit Goods: Welcome to the Fake Sneaker Capital of China
Hands Bag Pop was a website selling counterfeit handbags seized by the US government as part of efforts to stop counterfeiting and piracy. It was seized by ICE, as part of a seizure of 82 domains.
The website sold skin care products, as well as handbags.
It carried knockoffs of well-known brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Prada.
The site was uncovered through undercover purchases by federal agents.
Counterfeiting takes advantage of others' creative work, prevents job creation in the United States, and can be hazardous to consumers.
The website owner had not been given a warning before their site was seized by the federal agency, prompting civil liberties proponents to protest.
